This diagram shows how to measure length, beam, and height.

Length is taken on the centre line from the bow to the transom excluding any rub rails, extensions or bow sprits.

Beam is taken from amidships and also excludes any rub rails. Measurements should be to two decimal places if possible.

Transom Height a measurement from keel to the lowest point on the transom at which water can enter.

NOTE: If the vessel is custom built or has been modified from the original design it may also need to be inspected and a performance trial could be required. In this case, additional fees and charges may apply. Vessels over 15 metres require additional stability checks which are subject to quotation. The cost of the certification service includes the rating assessment, production and express post delivery of the engraved aluminium plate and is currently $495 including GST.
